At IDeas Design Consultants Ltd, we specialise in turning challenges into innovative engineering solutions. One such project was the PCN Soil Sampler, designed for Keith Mount Liming to revolutionise soil sampling efficiency in agriculture.

The Challenge: Inefficient Manual Sampling
Traditionally, soil samples were collected manually by driving an ATV around a field, stopping periodically to dismount and retrieve samples. This method was not only time-consuming but also labour-intensive and inefficient. The need for a more streamlined, automated solution was evident.
The Solution: A Towable Soil Sampling Device
Our design team developed a towed soil sampler that could be attached to an ATV or quad, enabling continuous sample collection without stopping. This breakthrough innovation drastically improved efficiency, increasing soil sample collection from 2,500 samples per day to nearly 17,000. The machine made its debut at the Cereals Show in 2017, demonstrating its capability to industry professionals.
Award-Winning Innovation
The success of the PCN Soil Sampler was recognised at the Lamma 2018 show, where it won the prestigious Machinery & Equipment Innovation Award. This accolade underscored its impact on agricultural productivity and efficiency.
