The brief

iDeas Design was approached by Keith Mount Liming to design a new soil sampler.  Previously, samples were all taken by hand, which meant driving an ATV around the field and stopping periodically to dismount and collect a sample, which was extremely time-consuming and inefficient. A towed solution was the solution, which meant that samples could be taken on the move.

The machine, which is towed behind an ATV or quad, has increased soil sample collection from 2500 samples per day to nearly 17000 and made its debut at the Cereals Show in 2017. 

The Soil Sampler was announced the Winner of the Lamma 2018 Machinery & Equipment Innovation award.
